Physan 20 Treatment Instructions Needed
Hello all,
Diane and I are ready to try a Physan 20 treatment on one of her (in bud) dendrobiums. . .and need to know what measurement to use? I think we'll need to do a dunk in a big glass bowl, since we're at work.
Ross, need your help!
P.S. Diane has her new plant stand in place but I forgot my camera. I'll bring it to work tomorrow and take pics.

Well, we went with 1-1/2 teaspoons to one gallon of RO water (the bottle calls for 2 teaspoons per gallon) . .we dunked the plant but just dripped and washed the leaves & bulbs with the solution.
I didn't get any on the flower buds.
We'll try spraying the solution next time. . .we didn't have a spray bottle. lol
Wonder if one treatment usually does it or if you have to do repeat treatments.

I use 1 tsp per gallon for routine treatment as directed on bottle. For harder jobs like developing mold on the backdrop of my orchidarium I use a bit stronger and make sure to not treat orchid leaves. If using as a medium drench, 1.5 tsp shouldn't hurt. Directions say retreat in 7 days. I apply more often if I feel the need.

gmdiaz,
Just to clarify, what is the reason that you're treating the Den. with Physan 20? Disease?

There was some significant amounts of "sooty" black, mildew? on the sheath & brownish-black spots on some of the leaves. One of the leaves was yellowing that had the worst spots. And there was quite a bit of algae, which wasn't really causing any problems but made Diane and I think that the orchid just needed a treatment for having been in a really humid greenhouse environment. Diane had just bought the plant from Fantasy Orchids recently.

Well, our teaspoon measurement of the Physan would be about 5 ml for you. . .and our gallon would be 3840 ml of water.
Somebody double check me but I THINK that's right?

Close, but not quite... A gallon is 3785 ml.
1 teaspoon per gallon is 1.3 ml/L
