Thanks guys, I appreciate the input. It sounds like I'm already pretty much doing what I can. The plant has just finished flowering so it's the right part of the cycle for root growth, so hopefully I see a new pb growing soon.

Camille, this plant had a severely degraded ball of moss, too...over watered for sure. You'd think vendors would know better but then again they are just churning out ants for a profit, so I do not blame them.

I use K-L-N and it works great for me. I use it for soaking media before transplanting and water with it until the plant gets established. I also use a little when I fertilize. I have used the spagh in the bag technique and it's worked for me. When I use the spagh in bag, I cut a few holes in the bag so it gets some air flow. I cut the bags bottom corners off and a hole or 2 on the sides of the bag. I put more holes in bigger bags and less in smaller. Good luck!

In my (very limited) experience, s/h is exactly what you want to do for a rootless oncidium alliance plant! I put my first oncidium in s/h only a couple of weeks ago, and I'm talking about rootless, heavily neglected, definitely on its way out plant. Actually, more than one... or two . Yeah, I'm not good with onciciums. Well, ALL of them sprouted new growth within a couple of days! I'm not kidding. I'm still watching these babies since my experiment is so new, but they all seem to be on their way to recovery, and the speed of the progress is just unbelievable.
I'm sure your plant will be just fine

Do the ONC pseudobulbs have leaves? One thing to watch is that if they have leaves then the bulbs will tend to use it's moisture store very rapidly unless the humidity is kept high hence the spag and bag method. Another method of propagating back bulbs is to mount them on tree fern. Then you can hang them and water all you want without having to worry to much about the dreaded black rot. The bulbs that you have are nothing more than the seeds of your future plants. With nothing to lose try mounting them on tree fern or any board with lots of holes drilled into it for moisture retention. Water the entire thing daily and try to keep the humidity up as high as you can. I have tied on a big wad of spagnum moss to the back and it helps retain enough moisture to help keep the humidity up. But not keep the bulbs themselves too wet. The back bulbs don't normally put out new roots in my experience but will use the stored energy to initiate new growths instead given enough warmth and humidity. Try it and let us know your experience.
