Yup, me and pure sphagnum don't work together. Since I already have found a medium that works together with me, my conditions, and my watering, I really don't see the point of sacrificing plants for the sake of learning - I can't do that to the poor innocent plants.

I won't re-pot it again since I did it yesterday, but thanks for the advice anyway.

I just checked on my little guy, the equestris, to see how it's doing in its new medium (of course it's too soon to tell, I know, but I have to be allowed a bit of mother-hen behaviour ), and noticed something that looks like the tip of a new leaf... A new LEAF?! This guy has got it all wrong! I doesn't need any new leaves, it needs roots dammit!

I'll have serious talk with it after I've eaten my lunch... *grumbles*

I would say any growth is good, this is the season for growth and on mine new roots often accompany leaf growth... so don't worry too much about the leaf growth

Yup, leaf and root growth go hand in hand with phals. All of mine are putting out at least one leaf, three on one, and loads of roots.

Yes, any growth IS definitely a positive sign, but I would prefer if it started growing in the right order; roots to support the leaves, leaves to support the plant and finally a spike to celebrate the whole growing party.

Trust me, I'm happy about this and at the same time a bit frustrated since it, according to me - the human, is doing everything in the wrong order!

Edit:
My Phals seem to like the whole "Oh, lets get new leaves everybody!" and forget about the whole root thingy until someone points it out.
