Thanks you all, Dorothy especially, who took a lot of time composing a comprehensive and careful analysis of all my issues and suggested many useful ideas for me to follow.

Now I will concentrate on the various forums that deal with the specific aspects of my future trying to revive these plants and perhaps some new ones!

We can certainly help in THAT department!!

I agree with Dorothy on the #2 Phal, it looks like you're getting rotted roots. Follow her suggestions. One thing that I would add to her advice is that the #3 Den looks like it could be mounted (attached) to a cork slab or bark slab that is jut stuck in the pot. If that is the case, and it is firmly attached, either hang it up - they can look really pretty like that especially in bloom - if you are okay with misting it every day; or, just leave that one resting in the pot. To try to pry it off of the mount would cause A LOT of damage to the plant.

Good luck with your plants! Post some photos of the 'after' pictures! If you have any questions, or even just want to 'talk out loud' to make sure you've got everything straight from the culture sheets, we're here to listen and help!

This whole thread made me smile! Welcome, Jim! I'm excited for you having a greenhouse in which to discover orchids. I'm sure you will soon become an addict, like all of us! None of those orchids is too far gone to save. In fact, I think #5 looks almost perfect. I agree with repotting them, though. Have fun in your new nursery!
