New to Orchids, species, blooming questions?
I have recently inherited an Orchid from my mother in law. She got it as a bulb 12 years ago from a gardener in Belize. It has never bloomed! I have recently transplanted it into a bigger pot with new orchid soil/mulch. I have no idea what kind it is or even how to get it to bloom. I would love to get some pointers on how to get it to bloom and how to take care of it. It currently sits in front of a large east facing window. Any one have any pointers on how to get it to bloom how much I should water it and any other maintainece it may need? I have attached a few photos for anyone who thinks they can help.

Not an orchid I don't think, maybe a philodendron or some other kind of aroid? Some of our other members are pretty familiar with that group of plants, maybe someone'll chime in...

After looking at some other pictures of peoples plants I was starting to wonder myself if it was an orchid but my mother in law is most certain that it is she says that a gardener gave it to her in Belize but im not sure any more the leaves don't look like anything close but the roots do! hoping someone else chimes in

I don't think it's an orchid either. I have never seen an orchid that looks even close to that. I'm not sure what it could be though. Do you know if the plant came from the wild in Belize? If it did you might be able to look up native plants of Belize and see if you can find something that looks like it. Good luck! And welcome to the board!

Also, what do you mean when you say she got it as a bulb? Was it a bulb that she planted in the soil and then sprouted? Like a tulip bulb or an iris bulb? Because if she got it like that it's not an orchid. They don't grow that way. Also if she has grown it in regular potting soil for the last 12 years it wouldn't still be alive if it was an orchid.

I don't know anything about Belize, but your plant sorta kinda looks like a birds nest fern that has been grown in light that is not bright enough.

Most certainly not an orchid by any means whatsoever.
Your plant is a dicot. Orchids are monocots.
Not a fern either.
