Unfortunately I'm not member of MOS (Manitoba Orchid Society). I should really join them, but they charge yearly membership fee, I think.

If you can't find Paramount on the web, let me know and I'll give you their link. They have a good website.
I think most or all societies charge a yearly membership. Ours is $25.00/yr. We are non-profit which most likely are. But the society has to pay monthly rent in a hall to hold the meetings and there are a number of operating costs. We had to buy a laptop and projector for presentations. And there is web server fees and many fees that a person doesn't think of right away. So a fee is necessary. We also take part in the Alberta orchid shows and there are entry fees and traveling costs for those. Most societies are very welcoming to new-comers and there are so many advantages to being a member. We have a resource table where members can buy almost all they need for growing orchids in small size quantities from pots, potting media, fertilizers, clips hooks and much more. Not all society's do this but because we are isolated from many supplies, we take it pretty seriously. We find good prices in bulk from wherever we can (other provinces and the U.S.) and then re-package into small affordable sizes. You'll be addicted in no time between this forum and a society
Another bonus I just thought of is the chance to place orders with a large group to orchid vendors far away! There are import fees etc. that an individual usually can't afford on their own small order.
