I'm sure some people in certain African countries still eat orchid tubers from the genus Eulophia or Satyrium.

Does anyone know of any perfumes made out of orchid that is the dominant scent? I heard there was a sedirea japonica perfume only sold in Japan, and I've been looking EVERYWHERE for it! Rumor is that is only sold in Japan.
I'm telling you, if it catches on that orchids are so tasty, we will have an Orchid Protective Services established! Bacon....sugar...looking like eggs!

Idk about perfumes. But my guess would be that if you'd like to do perfumes, flowers from the genus Aerangis, Angraecum, and Brassavola are your best bets.

Bud, I knew about the vanilla orchid but other than that I would never have thought about orchids being edible. Now I'm curious and want to try some orchid.
Pelepel, LOL, I like the sound of an orchid cheese burger and orchid and eggs.
Mutant, yes cinnamon and Listerine were new to me too. I like finding common household stuff you can use in a pinch.

That is SO funny you mentioned that perfume, because I nearly bought it!! I fell head over heals in love with the scent (guess it was the sedirea!) and now I'll have to go buy it. My other favorite is Hermes 'Un Jardin Sur Le Nil' it is pure heaven!

I guess I'll have to do what they did back in the day and rub the flower directly on the wrist! But then, I would feel guilty about destroying such a lovely flower.

Hahahah, too funny! Be sure to keep her away from orchid shows where someone's prized blooms got awarded honors. Might just end up in her hair as well.
