Has anyone ever tried to grow this species from seed? Or any orchid from seed. Guess I want a HUGE challenge. Where do I find info regarding the process? THX

Oh my, my face is RED! I went further and found solutions to my post. Thank you all but this is WAAAY over my head. Looks like it's easier to make babies than orchid plants. So sorry.

If you've got seed, some nurseries offer a growing service. In some cases they'll grow them, give you a flask and keep the rest of the plants to sell themselves as payment.

I hear it's actually quite posible to grow orchid seedlings at home... if you are prepared to get all the stuff needed together!

You can try Michael's Orchids to find ascocentrum orchids. He was at the orchid show in Pittsburgh--great guy, great orchids. The site is not quite up and running but you can write him email. Here is the link: Network Solutions E-Commerce Web Site

The orchids I bought from him were in great condition with really nice roots. The prices were nice, too. Really, if my teens hadn't been pulling me out of there, I would have spent more time looking through what he had. I can't wait until his site is up!

The easiest way is to be within 15 degrees of the equator, soak an Acnistus tree, break the pod open and blow the dust on the tree trunk.
Once the rainy season begins you'll see some action.
Other than that ? Email Ruben in orchids or Baldan and send a pod.
