Default Brassocattleya hybrids? 2 maybe available..

Why arent they more of these Bc hybrids commercially available for retail sales? I have only found 2 Bc hybrids for sale. Most of the rest them reside in the photo gallery at Waldor orchids. My Bc Makai is going nuts with new growths. Hasnt bloomed yet but have close to 22 new shoots. Course that dont mean spikes but means it has the chance to flush out for me. I found a Bc hippodamia which is by my best google an older Bc hybrid cross. Any clues? They seem to grow pretty fast and as for the catts. in general this plant is very easy to grow. Made me want to find more of this combination. ..Chime inn

I agree. I have the two you mentioned. I really love the Brassavola hybrids and the Richard Mueller crosses as well. Also can't find them too often here either, but it makes it special when I can. One of my all time favorite plants is Bc Yellow Bird. Blooms last over 2 months and the fragrance at night is so wonderful, it just makes you feel good!

I have a b.verrucosa x b.longissima that looks and smells so amazing, so I must agree!!! I think because the most common orchid is a phal. You tell someone "orchid" and a phal comes to mind first with most people. They are the most common Big Box sold. I see more variety at our local Trader Joe's, and I often see a few brasses in the mix.

Bc hippodamia looks lovely!!
