It looks like Ray was using 2 drops per gallon, per his free information site:

Thanks for the advice people and thanks for the link bud.
There will be some serious dipping of three little ones tomorrow and I really hope that the two I have in my care already will be helped by this and won't die on me.

Oh, thanks zxyqu! Good to know. I'll do the same then and also, thanks for the link. I suck at using the search engine on this forum, can never find anything when I use it so it's a word my very tired brain can't come up with at the moment...priceless? Oh, it's worth a lot that you know where to look.

Not a problem Mutant. In fact Ray's website has an absurd amount of really helpful information on culture/etc. Good luck, hope they make it. But then again, you're not a hobbyist until you've killed your share of orchids.

And again, I only use it once a month.

I'm no expert but, I my impression is that superthrive is a lot more 'potent' than KLN or seaweed. I have some and have only used it once (I believe I went a bit strong on the dosage; when I used it saw some 'funny stuff happening - but again can't say for sure if it was due to the ST) I have never used it again since. Doesn't mean I never will... but if memory serves me right it talks about 'drops' in the instructions on watering. I have never found out how much a drop actually is...ther's drops and Drops... so I have avoided further use of it.
I look forward to reading different peoples ideas on this and yes I to would love to know exactly how much to use for orchids ..If I ever feel one of my plants needs this extra boost in the future.

To stimulate a sick plant, I would use 10 drops per gallon, once a week. And 1 or 2 drops per gallon is fine for healthy plants every time you fertilize.

Not a problem. I know my KLN appeared to stop having the effects it used to after say 6-9 months. That's why I switched over to Ray's newly offered Seaweed extract, which is supposed to have a longer shelf-life (2 years or so). Just a thought, but I can't say if it's doing anything just yet, as I've only started using it recently.

thanks this is not the first time I have wondered about this..... apologies again i feel very foolish for asking...

I wouldn't feel bad about that question. My guess is with a dropper, and using a "full" drop. But you're right, it's just as arbitrary as a capful. What cap are we speaking about? I think the idea is just, "dont use a lot." and they go from there.

Okay, so 10 drops to the sick one (the aurea) and 1 or 2 drops to the two that need some roots. I don't know if one of them is sick though since it didn't have that many roots and since I had to remove some that were mushy and its leaves are floppy (never a good sign)...
I think I have a pipette that I can use for this to get the proper drops instead of playing around with milliliters.
Again, thanks a lot!
