Too early to take orchids out?

Depends on your orchids. Most orchids are going to want around 65 at night to be safe. Some of course are fine at 50 or even lower.

I really does depend what the orchids are. I have some stayed out all winter, others will go out soon as soon as the risk of frost has passed, and others will wait until it's much warmer.

Well, I grow a very wide range, but have a spreadsheet of lows and highs recommended. So, let's take Dend. Kingianum for example. Moving it out of a stable home temp of 68 degrees where nights go into say upper 40s or lower 50's would not be stressful? Or would it? I guess I'm just curious how everyone determines what is best to acclimate their various ones to the outside.

I was also confused by the minus 10F indoors at night...your house must be frozen ...heh



I looked at the ten day forecast in St Louis, MO...its going to be 80's in the day and 60's at night with a 27% humidity...(ideal for vandas)
You can bring out the sturdy orchids this weekend and next week is a nice introduction to spring. I dont think theres gonna be frost in the next coming weeks

I put mine outdoors on Monday, we're forecast to have 75-80F days and 55F nights all week here...perfect! I'm loving this weather.

Well, I put about 20 out, those that can take lows in the 40's and below. And lucky them, it's supposed to rain for the next few days! I know they are just dying for some fresh water to drink! Lol...

Paul, I agree with what others said. It really does depend on the plants. Having seen some of the stuff you post, you'll probably have to pick and choose what can go outside for awhile.
Here in Atlanta, it's getting close to outside time for my Phals, but I'm still watching some potential 50 degree nights. They'd probably be ok, but I'd rather leave them under light for a little longer than shuffle them all inside on a regular basis. I'd recommend the same if you aren't sure of any.
