Den. all stems for a year or more. Is it beyond hope? If not what do I do? I recently decreased its pot size to hug what's left of the roots tighter.

the canes are still green ...it might give you keikis...give it brighter light...or under the sun provided it gets shaded by 11am to 3pm...

Bud is right. These like good lighting. I have mine about ten inches from a south facing window and they go outside in the summer and get direct morning sun. Watering depends on temperature. Hot temps (above 80'F), water often, cooler weather, keep dryer. As the canes are green, you should get a new growth from the bottom. Good luck!

If it's still green, there's still hope.

I gave a Dendrobium tanii/bracteosum too much love and killed all its roots off, but now about 6 months later, it's decided to put out some keikis on the stems, which now get regular misting to keep the roots growing.

Potted in a clear plastic cup with holes in the bottom. Its filled with bark orchid mix and secured with wire to prevent it from moving.
