So this weekend was my cities orchid show! I didn't get to spend too much time looking at the displays, but I did come home with two new purchases. I got a Den. Oriental smile 'butterfly' and a C. Ann Follis 'Goldie Lock' AM/AOS x Broughtonia. I came home to look them up online though and found that I can't find an image of the Catt. Also I do not know what a broughtonia is either....Does anyone know about these? Earlier this week I also added in a mini Den.Kingianum Ok I need to stop buying now....I just got so excited to buy non noid plants!!

Broughtonia = small plant with very long spikes and multiple flowers, usually in pink or purple tones. If I'm not mistaken you'll probably get flowers in tones of purple or red, several flowers to a spike, somewhat smaller than the Cattleya parent.

Here's a link to a picture of C. Ann Follis: http://www.bergoiata.org/fe/orchids/...n%20Follis.jpg. It was known as a Laeliocattleya until some of the recent generic reshuffling. Broughtonia is a genus related to Cattleya, is there a species name on your tag? I think sanguinea and negrilensis are the only species currently in Broughtonia, with sanguinea used more often as a hybrid parent. Nice purchases!

It is the sanguinea...Thanks for the pictures and into! I think that they will be beautiful when they bloom from the sound of it. So if I am understanding the cat will be a mini variety.? I was looking at so many varieties that I just could not recollect what the picture looked like!
