Another newbie trying her hand at growing a Cymbidium Female

The weather has been fluctuating here for the last week....started off in the 80s, by the end of the week it was mid-60s and getting into the low 40s at night. I have a patio on the front of my house (faces east) and a larger one off the back (faces west). Yesterday I did put it out on the back patio where it got some fresh air and dappled light for a few hours. By the start of next week we are supposed to see the 80s during the day again, so I'll see what each day brings and go from there!

Thanks so much for all the responses - I was referred to this site by a friend of mine who lives in Florida and grows orchids who is a member. What a great bunch of people and resource for help and information!! ☺

Put it outside now and leave it there. However, your biggest problem will be lack of humidity in Arizona. If you can keep the humidity to at least 50% - 60% during the day, you will be successful. If not, you will be disappointed in growing your cym.

If she waters in the morning before she goes to work and waters in the afternoon when she comes home from work...the humidity problem will be solved...up til winter when it is really very dry...but if she had a bright window then indoors will be best for the Cym...to be taken outdoors only when the cool temps are in...

@Mutant...I didnt know you were from the frigid zone...whereas I am in the temperate zone...
and we have also indoor heat by water steam provided in pipes all over the corners of the apartment especially the bathrooms.
crack opened windows is a no no for you...sorry

but on the bright side: if you can grow Phals...you can also grow Paphiopedilum...as I am a new grower and recently was convinced by Glen to do so...and then you can grow Cyms..and Dendrobiums...and I have a friend from your zone who grows Vandas in vases and can bloom them...
