Dynagro pro-tekt on Vanda and Phals

Hi,
Anyone has used proteket on Vanda and Phal ?
I have some huge size Vandas and Phals.
Summer is approaching that the big worry for me..

What is the frequency of use and dilution rates? I use RO water, all Vanda's are bare root and Phals in (70% coal 30% CHC or Sphagnum)

And water everyday (mostly foilar spray)

That is a great question. I also want to know how and when to use it.

When I saw the tag mentioning that it helps the plant establish stronger roots and leaves, I emediatly bought it, whithout having a clue how to use it.

Here is the Ray's suggestion I received over the mail.

I used to use Dyna-Gro "Grow" formula in RO at about 1ml/L (causing the pH to plummet), and added that same amount of Pro-tekt to get the pH correct at about 6-6.5. Never use pro-tekt by itself.

I am not able to apply it as I am not having the Grow formula. And it is costly for me to import .
In a confused state to chose either money or addiction.

The point is that Pro-Tekt is a fairly strong base, so it must be mixed with an acidic substance before applying it to plants. Most fertilizers are fairly acidic, so that's usually not an issue. My reference to "Grow" formula was to demonstrate the volume of it and Pro-tekt used, not to state that the particular fertilizer is necessary.

The product is a potassium silicate solution. When I used it, I saw no improvement in roots or anything obvious. Anecdotal evidence says that it does improve tolerance to heat or cold stress, but I try to avoid applying those.

DO NOT mix pro-tekt and fertilizer in a concentrated solution, or it will precipitate into a clogging sludge instantly.

Glad someone asked this question because I've been using Pro-tekt for about a year now and have wondered if I was using it correctly. I've always included a fertilizer in the same solution, which is apparently the way to do it.

I also haven't really noticed any obvious improvements in roots or overall appearance of my orchids since using it. I do tend to stress mine a little in the summer with the summer heat, but I can't do much about that since Dallas just gets HOT in the summer. I guess I could leave them inside for the summer, but I think they like the additional light and fresh air they get during their summer "vacation".

I wonder if I stopped using it if the orchids that spend the summer outside would start to show signs of stress from the heat. Hmmm...I may have to select a phal to be my test plant.

Thanks for your suggestions. I made my mind to use MSU and it produced very good results, and at the same time I moved my orchids to natural light area. Along with MSU I used Protket, for 4 months.

Results - Astonishing ! . From a killer to bloomer
All plants - Phals, Dends, Vandas, Miltonias even Paphs and Anthuriums and roses too are responding good!

This winter I am expecting good blooms from healthy plants! I always go with saying Healthy plants - great blooms!
Hope I do not blast the buds of Orchids! Wish me luck..
