The skewers are a great idea, I installed some as soon as I read it. I also changed how the box hangs. The plant nearly projects directly sideways now. It probably has a 15* downward angle. So far I like it alot. I believe I'm going to do this to at least one more phal, probably more

I do have a couple more questions about the cattleyas.

I plan on watering them daily or every other. This weekend, however, I'm going out of town. Will they be fine for a couple days without my watering? I know catts can dry more between waterings, but I wasn't sure how the mount would affect them.

I have the cattleyas near other potted orchids that sit on humidity trays. I measured the humidity at around 57% in the bottom of the window and 47% near where the highest catt hangs. Is this acceptable until I can get them outside this spring?

They'll be fine for a few days. The cats should probably stay a little dryer this time of year until you get some new root growth starting.

Good to know, Bruce. They do have new roots forming with green tips right now, but I'll be stingy with the water.

How do I know if this dry all the way? I've been feeling for temperature and squishiness, and of course moisture. Surely these little mounts will be completely dry in two to three days, no?
