Oncidium not flowering, what am I doing wrong?
Hello all,
I'm new, and semi-new with orchids. I've got an oncidium that was flowering when I bought it (about a year and a half ago) dark red and yellow, but hasn't flowered since.
I had it inside on my kitchen table receiving southern light, but I learned that it wasn't getting enough light, so I moved it outside about a month ago (next to very happy cymbidiums).
Now its on my patio receiving southern light from sunrise to about noon. Now, it's leaves have gone from dark, dark green to moderately light green (good, right?).
I water it about every 5-6 days and feed it with orchid bloom booster 3-6-9. My temps are night 50-55 and day 65-75.
Why am I not getting any blooms? What am I doing wrong?
Any advice or tips would be very much appreciated!

I think you made the right move putting it outside. If the leaves changed to a medium to light green then your light is right. If the leaves and pseudobulbs are yellowish then you have too much light. I would skip the bloom booster and give it a balanced fert (10-10-10 or 20-20-20).

I think all you need at this point is patience A month isn't very long yet, so I'd bet you won't see anything for maybe a few more months.
It also depends on the Onc, some bloom a bit randomly through the year, others bloom at more specific times.

I Messed up the fertilizer, it is 3-9-6. But, I will look for a more balanced one, per your suggestion. Thank you.
I will also work on my patience, but I can not make any promises!

I think that's why many of us have a zillion orchids. We have limited patience, so with a lot of orchids you're sure to always have things blooming.

have any new bulbs grown ? in my experience flowering is from new bulbs, so if you have had new growth the chances are you will get blooms. If you haven't had any new growth you may have to wait a while.....in addition to trying to figure out why there's been no new growth.

Yes, I've had 4-5 new little bulbs grow, with healthy leaves. It's getting much bigger, with lots of new growth, very quickly since I moved it.
I think that is why I'm frustrated with no spike!

Most Oncidiums don't spike until the new growth is mature, or very nearly so (fully developed pbulb) - tho some will spike on not yet matured growth. Also, if the plant was not receiving sufficient light til just a month ago, if pbulbs are matured, they likely have not received sufficient light for long enough, and you may need to wait for the next new growths to bloom.
Good luck!
