Default Spike?

After checking some older threads on the spike/root issue (that is; is it a new spike emerging or is it a root) I'm pretty convinced that one of my Noid Phals is (very slowly) working on its second spike. If it is I'll be very happy because the Phal I think it is as never had more than one spike at the time.

So, am I right? Is it a spike?

It does look strongly reminiscent of the beginning of a spike - but I'd wait a little longer before confirming one way or the other - once it's about twice that length, it should be more obvious.

Yay! *doing a mad spike dance of joy*

I usually never notice whether it's a spike or a root until it's big enough, but since I got bitten by the great orchid bug I check my Phals everyday and noticed this little thing.

So, the good parts about start caring for your orchids properly; you'll notice small differences quickly and hopefully take better care of your plants.

The down part about start caring for your orchids properly; you'll notice what slow growers some of them are (glares at her bunch of happily oblivious Phals)!
