Hi everyone my Orchids have had there time of blooming now old leaves falling , nothing is wrong with them and do I cut back the stems a bit , because as the Blooms fall off the stem becomes a bit woody looking , now I dont know what to do at this point but to feed and water , how do I know if I need to repot , this is my first growing season and this is the first time Im going through this and looks like its going into bear trees time thanks sebastian
I didnt mean the leaves fell sorry the flowers did , I have a 3 phalaenopsis, 2 paphiopedilum, 1 cymbidium, and there all loosing there flowers so what kind of care now
Some Paphs produce multiple blooms on one stem. But you can tell if there are more as it is usually developing near the top. If the stem is turning brown, it is done and can be cut back close to the plant. Cymbidiums can also be cut down close to the soil. Leave about an inch or so. Phals can be cut partway back to just above one of the nodes and many of them will send out a spike from one or more of the remaining nodes. But if the stem is already brown and woody looking, it is finished.
