My new haul from the Orchid Show!!!
Hello everyone,
I'm so excited! The St. Louis Orchid Show has been going for two weeks now, and the vendors were here last weekend! I got to meet two people in person who are on here, and I bought... drumroll please... ORCHIDS!!!!
So, here's what followed me home:
Angraecum distichum
Angraecum sesquipedale (wanted this one for a LONG time, lol...)
Brassavola ovaliformis
Chiloschista segawai
Dendrobium pachyphyllum
Encyclia garciana
Neofinetia falcata (Onamisecai - whatever that means)
Phaleanopsis amboinensis
Phaleanopsis bastianii
Pleurothallis alata
Scaphosepalum rapax
I'm hoping someone can tell me what the Onamisecai means with the Neofinetia.
All in all, it's a great show!!!!! And I'm sure the vendors loved me, lol... Now, to find room for them in my home!

Interesting. Onamisecai is what they have listed, but perhaps they got it wrong as can often happen, especially when transcribing a language such as Japanese or Chinese into English. Thus you have Peking and Beijing, lol... Same cities, just different spellings.

If thats how they named the plant then so be it. We cant argue anymore especially if it is already registered. But as you were asking what the meaning of the term...thats how I came upon it...its hybrid from Onami city and described as the world or the earth
but I also play video games and remembered playing with "Anime Sekai"

Congrats
someone needs to do a study on why most orchid addicts just CAN'T RESIST buying more....and more. I am going to the Atlanta show in March and no matter how much I say I am not going to get any more, I know I will.
I now avoid going to places like Hausemann's just for that reason !

ROFL... I know! My mother in law asked if I bought any new ones. She rolled her eyes when I told her how many, lol... What can I say, it's love at first flowering!

That Dend is interesting. Flowers only last a day! Kind of crappy. lol
Both of the Phals are great looking.
Good list for sure. Did you get a discount for buying so many?

I wish I had room for that many orchids! I grow under fluorescent lights so am limited to low and medium light orchids. I am going to a show in March and it will be my first show. It is one of the smaller shows in the U.S. in Omaha, NE. I hope there will be some nice plants for sale... So far 3 vedors will be there...
