Merlyn, that's why I stated look at other companies as well to see what is in their mixes and learn what others use. I personally like repotme's mixes but know that it is just my preference and others may have better luck with other places/mediums. I state repotme because I'm also not familiar with other sources other than local suppliers here who do not have websites. I'll have to check out your links though!

From what I have seen Carter and Holmes has nice ingredients but I think you buy what you want separately and the mix your own like 3-1-1 or whatever. Good prices and good material but repotme has about every ready mix imaginable

Was I out of line jumping in on your conversation? I didn't mean to be rude.

Did you just add the FLOS to your profile or was it me who didn't see it ??

Anyhow, I figured Florida has just about the most orchid societies per state ! Unless, maybe California does.

Sorry Paul, I'm missing things today and didn't see where you said to check out other vendors.

I wasn't trying to be an advertisement for repotme. I just knew of them. This is one reason I recently joined this board, to learn of options and techniques. Not to ruffle anyones feathers. I thank you for the information and will at some point today check them out. I also mentioned Carter and holmes not just repotme.

after looking at a few other websites I feel satisfied ordering through repotme.com although I did find items on another site which I may have to revisit for my next order of clear pots. Great deals can be found in a multitude of places and I think we should share that info if it doesn't break any rules

I seem to recall that this is YOUR thread !?! No rudeness involved !
No rules broken, I just don't want people (ESPECIALLY newbies !) to think that this forum recommends only one vendor ! And some have this but not that so it pays to shop around.

Well, I could have saved a few cents on slotted pots thru another website but I liked the potting media at repotme so rather than paying for shipping twice I shelled out the 3 or 4 cent difference. I like hearing about bargains and passing them on as well. Thanks for clearing that up, about it being my thread...new to these forums too.

Keith, just wanted to add that you want a medium that holds more water the smaller the pot is. Using the same medium as a larger pot will mean it drying out more quickly. For this reason I use sphagnum moss for my mini Phals, which are in 2.5" plastic slotted pots. But it just depends on your conditions and watering routine. I prefer to water my Phals about once a week. If you do decide to use sphag by itself or in a mix, go ahead and get the top quality sphag. The cheaper stuff is already on its way out so it will break down super fast. Hope this helps, happy growing!
