Thanks for the replies guys, I did go to repotme and ordered a few things which should keep my plants in good shape for awhile. After I posted the question I realized that a mini phal would obviously use the same media selections that full sized ones woulds since they are both thick rooted specimens, the only difference would be the size of the pot.
I now have 16 orchids consisting of phals, catts, oncidiums and a paph.. I go to the local nursery and buy them after they have dropped their blooms so that way the store has dropped the price quite significantly. I have bought the majority of my plants for $5 a piece instead of $20-$40 for the plants with blooms. I figure if I can keep them healthy enough they will educate me through the growing season and reward my efforts next blooming season. Feel free to impart any wisdom to me you feel I could use...PLEASE. I am trying to get my lighting system optimized now but I had back surgery in sept. and its not healing well and the disability checks dont go as far as a real paycheck so any cost cutting advice as long as it doesn't harm the plant is what I need to hear.
I don't have any orchid buddies around to talk to so I know I am jabbering on but it feels good to have a sounding board to throw thoughts and questions to. My wife is inheriting most of my african violets as I have become so tunnel visioned towards these orchids. My name is Keith so like I said before keep throwing knowledge my way. Thanks again
