Freddie hope you get it to live!
I had one a couple years ago and killed it - Like yours the leaves just started falling off....
You need to get moisture to the roots but not wet the 'stem' part
Good Luck & keep us posted!

Just an idea ... I know you've said you don't like sphag... but an idea might be to re pot in VERY veryloose sphag, with a layer of Leca pebbles at bottom of pot... and put into a container to hold humidity - like a huge bottle, aquarium... (this worked for me on a violacea I nearly killed a few years ago and who is in marvelous condition now)...I too used to hate sphag! but now have a few plants growing very well.. need to find the right balance which is not easy.

PS: forgot to say I began by soaking the sph.moss & 'wringing it out' at every watering

Nenella, I had actually thought of doing this, some sort of vivarium in a nice bowl or a wardian case. It had crossed my mind up until very recently but then thought it may be a bit hard to look after (not enough air circulation, too much moisture or I don't know what). But I really like the sound of it.
