Default Vacation time

Hello everyone
I am going on vacation this Wed-Sunday and have a few orchid care questions. My plan is to soak down my phals planted in bark as well as anything in hydroton and place them on a humidity tray with the lights on a timer. I think I will give my aerangis to my mom with a little cup of water for it's daily bath. Will it be OK to leave the bare root vandas dry for that long? (they are outside) I don't see taking them over to her house without much root breakage. I figure things can't die in that short amount of time as they could be shipped in a box for that long but I don't know? What do you guys suggest?

Also, if anyone has any good suggestions for orchid places to check out in San Diego area, please feel free to help me in my addiction...

I would think they would be fine for five days. I bring mine inside and put them in front of a window while I'm away and they're always fine. I wouldn't leave them any longer then a week.

As long as the humidity is high there should be no problem. One thing you can do is, soak the plant roots for maybe about 5 hours before you leave.

I suggest against standing them in that tray.

Water heavily before you go, and a break of only a few days should be of no consequence whatsoever.

I am not sure of where to see orchids but .. Balboa Park has beautiful gardens - it's worth a few hours of wandering through !
