I'm going to guess that my dendrobium is having a rest as it has been a couple of months now with no growth (not the cane or roots)
All looks well. I mist the exposed roots that sit on top of the medium. I have it in a slotted clay pot that sits inside a decorative pot for stability. I placed some smooth stones in the bottom of the decorative pot with a little water to maintain some humidity. The den has stretched out 2 roots from the slotted pot and both are in the water. I've left them as is.
I'm just wondering if I should move this orchid away from its usual sunny position (east window) or if i should leave it.
Most sources say these types like bright light in the winter, as in the natural habitat of the parent species most trees lose their leaves during the dry season. The primary bloom cue seems to be a drop in temperature, so unless the plant's current spot stays consistently very warm I bet it will do well there for the winter. Hope this helps!
