Another reason that I don't contemplate using high nitrogen fertilizers is that to get high nitrogen you have to add ammonium salts and I don't see any good coming from using ammonia (or urea) on my high value plants.

Pure potassium nitrate has a NPK of 13-0-44. Even after you add calcium and magnesium nitrate you are still not likely to get more than a 1:1 N:K ratio.
