Psychopsis favorite medium?

I believe I need to repot my psychopsis. It's been blooming beautifully for about a year, with plump white roots poking out of the slits in the pot. Recently, it's stopped blooming, and the roots that were previously healthy, are now greyish brown and dry looking. Nothing has changed about the plants environment at all! I suppose the next logical step would be to repot into fresh medium, but I'm not sure what to buy. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

I use repotme.com's oncidiumix. You might check out their website to see what they put in the mix and go off of that.

Lava rock and a net plastic pot work very well for my psychopsis.

I grow hundreds and have some in sphag, some in bark and some in coconut chips.

Whatever they came in stays then into whatever I am using that week.

I do tend toward bark mix with a lot of charcoal for established plants and sphag for divisions.

The medium you use will depend on your conditions and orchid. Air flow, temperature, humidity, health of roots, size of plant, amount of light, size of intended pot, and personal preferences will all contribute to deciding the best medium. Hope that helps.

Hi,
mine love to grow in lava rock in full sun (winter). Greyish-brown roots seems to be to much water! I have them on the dry side - even when growing.

I've got one in bark and one in sphagnum and they are both doing well - blooming like mad. Right now both are in bud. It really depends on you and your growing area. The good news is you can't go wrong. The bad news is they hate to be repotted and will sulk afterwords. Be gentle when you repot!
