Default Update on burned phal leaves

This is just an update on a thread I posted probably about a week ago on two phals I accidentally left outside in the sun after watering them. Some of the leaves are so badly burned that the burned area's turned from brown to a mushy looking gray. Most of the leaves (at least 90% of each leaf is severely burned and I really don't see them making it, but my hubby encourages me that if they are going to make it, they will survive in the orchidarium (I think he is trying to postpone me buying more), where I have had them since I burned them. Some of the leaf area's that are still green are starting to yellow now as well. Sniff Sniff I am sooo sad! Guess when I decide to give up on them, I will have to get two more to replace them! I will take some pictures with my crummy camera. I am 99% sure they won't make it at this point, but it is a lesson well learned, and will be great for others to see!

I'm so sorry Becca! I hate when things like that happens. It can be so discouraging.
Definately post pics so we all can see and learn.
On another note, did I catch the change from
fiance to hubby correctly? Did you get married?
If so congratulation!!! If I jumped the gun so sorry!

HI Sarah.....hehe....you caught it We eloped this last Sunday...but are still taking a trip to Mexico, Puerto Vallarta to be specific. We leave for Mexico Sept. 5 and come back Sept. 13 and then we will have a reception on the 15th. I am still going to rent a dress in October when the leaves are pretty and have some pictures taken. I just don't handle stress well so that is why we eloped....and it was perfect!

Yay Becca! Congradulations again! I knew it! I think eloping is the way to go. I don't handle stress well either and can't imagine dealing with all that pressure! I think the dress and picture idea is great. I bet it will be so pretty with all those fall colors. I'm so happy for you!

Sorry to hear about your phal. But dont give up, my wife has tried to kill two but they are still hanging in there.

If my wife is reading this, I know that you didnt try to kill them honey.

Congrats on your nuptails !!!
Hold on to that phal .. if the crown is good .. you can still get some leaf growth out of it .. esp if the root system is healthy! Don't give up the ship yet !

Default pictures!

Thanks for the congrats everyone! You are a great family! Well I took some pictures....okay several pictures and thought I would share them. One of the top leaves came off, kind of tearing leaving behind a soft mush in the crown....I think that one is defenatly done for. And then on the other one, I noticed the small growth that was coming from the top is turning yellow as well. I am not joking that these are probably far from saving now, they do have great root systems, so unless a miracle happens, I dunno. It seams one leaf after another is falling off. I am wondering if some of the burned area's are turning into rot and transffering to the crown as that part is starting to turn yellow as well. Well enjoy the sad pictures!

Wow thats to bad, I have a phal hanging in a oak tree, and the power company had tree trimmer come by while I was at work and one of my phals had two leaves burn. They actually had a big black spot in the center of the leaves and they fell off. Unfortunately the plant is struggling. It has a new leaf coming out but it also lost a third leaf. I know how you feel so good luck.

Congrats on the marriage!!!!

And so sad about the orchids. Because I am a beginner, I would probably give up on the plants and buy new ones. But is it possible to hack off the leaves and let new ones grow? I guess I don't really know... can orchids survive without their leaves?
