Default Crazy Flower Mutation!

I was looking at my orchid today and noticed that one flower was different.... but it diddnt take me long to see what was different... It is a phal and they usually have five petals, well this one had THREE!!! check out the pics!!! also notice that the red thing in the center is grown into the pollination thing... i dont know the technical terms... sorry

ENJOY! thought i would share my little surprise today... I also have another surprise on the same stalk waiting to open, it looks like it may have a tiny little top petal, so the buds insides are showing.

fyi... i took a picture of a normal flower so you can compare it to the abnormal one. There is currently two spikes on the plant and one of them has a branch, so i have three different points where buds have been made.

It looks like they fused into the sepals.

I agree on this and suspect the remaining flowers may be normal. The bad reflexing on the dorsal sepal (rolling back on the top 'petal') indicates the plant probably underwent some extreme change of temperature or humidity during formation.

Thanks for the information! This one decided to take a nose dive off of its shelf one night, idk if that had an influence, but it also has turned from fall to winter now so humidity is naturally low. Thanks for the tidbit of info! It is fun to learn things about orchids.
