Question Pics of "bad" sphagnum moss?
Hi Guys!

I was wondering, do any of you have pics to compare "good" vs "bad" or broken down/deteriorated sphagnum moss? I'm not familiar with the medium.

I don't have the pics of really bad moss, just approaching that state. Here is the picture of seedlings I received in fall this year. The ones with really dark and packed moss are marked potted about a year ago (10/2010) I would say that moss is approaching bad level and I repotted them right away.


Fresh moss looks lighter in color, cleaner and more fluffy:

If the moss is "springy" when moist, it's good. if it gets limp or compact and soppy, replace it immediately.
