What's this part of a Phal called? Female
Default What's this part of a Phal called?

Hi everyone,
I was looking at the phals I have out at the moment and thought I'd ask something which I've always wondered about:

Is there a specific name for the little tendril-like part of the lip? For example, you can see the Phal Moon Halo (pic 1) has a longer lip than the one one Dragon's Charm (pic 2) while Phal Elegant Jennifer (pic 3) has an in between length.

I think, but am not certain, that those tendrils are called antennae.

Christenson calls them "lobules," but also refers to them as "appendages," or "cirrhi."

I'm glad you asked that question. When my neice was small she called them "fangs" and I have to admit, the name stuck

Now that's funny Joann. When my daughter was little she called them the same thing and I've always thought of them as 'fangs'.
