Excuse my ignorance, but can someone tell me what EXACTLY are specimen plants? How does one determine that? Also, if you can post a picture, i would love to see it.

I don't think there is an exact definition of this. It is basically a plant that is very large for its type that puts out an impressive display.

Default SPECIMEN PLANT !

It's just a descriptive adjective basically meaning HUGE, MANY FLOWERED plant ! See pix.

I have NEVER seen such a plant! Wow!!! You can hardly see leaves, there are so many blooms.

Here's a specimen plant of Dend. primulinum. It is not my plant, though I photographed it for the AOS. The plant was about 6 feet long and received a Certificate of Cultural Merit from the AOS, as many specimen plants do.
