Wilsonara culture - Orchid Board

So, I had one other but is almost dead due to I deck infestation. But what are the general guidelines to grow this?

I have a Wils. Pacific Perspective 'Pacific Heat'...you can see pictures of it in my past postings...
I follow the Oncidium culture for it.
Its in medium mix of bark, charcoal, lava rock and husk
I water it once a week this winter and last summer every other day
it is 80F in the day and 65F at night...
its in a southern window brightly shaded sun
weekly it alternates with seaweed mix + worm tea mix and Algoflash orchid fertilizer(for summer) and in winter= twice a month

Wilsonara is a man made genus of Cochlioda x Odontoglossum x Oncidium. Odontoglossum are often cool growing as is Cochlioda. But I think cool to intermediate conditions are good and intermediate light. Basically general oncidium culture, but maybe on the cooler side.

Yeah, it was the cross with the ondonto I was concerned about. I just got two from the OS Christmas dinner and my other one hasn't faired do well. A lady there seemed to think it needed cooler temps, but I wasn't so sure. But my only other experience wasn't that great and may have been more my fault than I originally imagined. Lol...

If your hybrids have a lot of Odontoglossum crispum in them, you may want to be careful about heat. They are pretty cool growing.

I am going to be doing a search online to see if I can find out what they were bred with, especially since I know they were brought in from Hawaii. However, I'm not holding my breath, lol...

So perhaps the whole issue I had with the last one was not just bug related. I left it outside by itself in a secluded location last year while I worked on it. Perhaps it could have been the heat as well.

Wils. opalescent 'Snow Pixie'
Wils. Space Flower 'Doppler Effect' x Oda. lovely apple

OK, Attached are the make-ups of them. Opalescent takes bright dappled light and cool to warm temps as there is a real mix in it's heritage. The photo is not your 'Snow Pixie' cultivar so not sure if it looks similar. Space flower x Lovely Apple is not a registered hybrid at this time. It takes low light and cool to cold conditions. Hope that helps.
