Shall I go back?
I went to a local nursery today to get some seed compost ( for winter veg) and they had some sorry looking Dends and phals. OH was with me so I didn't say anything, BUT do I go back tomorrow and offer them a ridiculously low amount of money for them? I know I can rescue them!

Maybe ask what they do with the plants that for whatever reason, are no longer suitable for sale.
Maybe they'll make you an offer to take them? Or you can offer them a price better than whatever it is that they'll need to do to send them back or whatever.
Save em! LOL

Go for it! What's there to think about? But then, you might not want to take my advice... I've been to the same garden centre 4 times so far this week debating about buying some pretty marble-leafed Phals.....

Is it worth your time to nurse them back to health? Don't get me wrong, I too have purchased plants on 'clearance' shelves, but they still have to be in good health.
If it was a plant cross that I just had to have - then I would consider it. Otherwise a sick plant takes up space that a healthy one could have, and healthy ones flower more!

If they'll sell it (no harm asking) if price is low and, If the plant can be saved (the plant has healthy roots, look for any new plant/shoot/keike and for phal, some leaves/crown still looks good. Ill try to buy it. I like to buy cheap plant that I can save and bring back to good health.
