what does "NOID" stands for??

hello everyone, this is my first post in this forum, i have a collection of orchids, in many posts in this forum i see the word "noid", but i dont onderstand what this means, is it something like mixed hybrid plants with no name?

It literally means, No ID, or No identification, or no name. Basically, it's a nice flower, but we dont know the parents or the actual name of the cross

Welcome aboard! Be prepared to learn a lot here - everyone is very helpful!

Welcome to OB. NOID's still make lovely orchids (and I have a number of them) but they can't ever be given an AOS (American Orchid Society) award at shows etc. so for some people it does de-value them. It's also easier to figure out what cultural requirements are required when you know exactly what it is but for the most part they are identifiable as a general type and we can usually have a good idea of the care they need.
