I have a NOID Dendrobium i recently received and 3 of the stalks have leaves with small blackish blob type things underneath. Recent research points to a fungal problem but too developed to simply cut the leaves off.
My question is if its safe to bring other orchids into the same growing area and a recommended way to cure the problem. Pics available upon request.
usually the fungal infestation will contaminate if you have the other orchids touch each other for a long time...isolating it in another room window by itself is good...
this calls for the big guns: physan 20(make sure only the infected area...do not drench the roots)
Ok thanks. Ill add it to my shopping list. Already i have a lot to do for this big guy. His aerial roots are all over the place and its in a sphagnum only pot atm. I want to kill this infection and move him to bark and charcoal. The top of the soil is still kind of moist after even a few days which i assume cant be good. Sadly there hasnt been much direct sun over my area the last few days due to inclament weather. Just want to get her home to my flouros so shell be happy and safe!!
For my 2 cents:
Plain brown Listerine is an antifungal and will work.
Gentian violet is an antibacterial and antifungal which is one of my favorite remedies. (It is a purple dye so apply with a Q-tip.) Both of these products are easy to find at the drug store.

Ok update I got some listerine from home. Do i want to only apply it to the affected areas with a q-tip or as a foliar spray orrr ??? Any help is as usual appreciated! Thanks!
Also i just saw that it has to be brown listerine? I have the blue one which i thought was the original. Thanks guys
I use Listerine in a small spray bottle and spray the affected areas. I do not rinse it off.
The original brown is all I've ever used, I don't know about the blue but I would think it would also work fine.
