Honey dew on a Aerides (lawrenciae x odorata)

The flower spike on my Aerides developed honey dew all along the spike, especially where the buds are developing. I didn't worry at first since my Cymbidium flower spikes have always had small drops of honey dew, however this looks like the buds are blasting and it is VERY sticky. There is no evidence of insects even under magnification.

How much magnifying ? I use a 5x to look for mites and if you've never seen them you could pass right over and not notice them !!! BTW, have you tasted the dew ? I've tried every kind and most are sweet, to a degree, and I have one that is better than honey !!!
