What is the best greenhouse?
I have outgrown my house as far as orchid plants are concerned so I want to buy a greenhouse to house these many plants. My question to you experts is which is the best greenhouse on the market today.
Thanks so much,
Danny

I think there may be quite a few on the market! I would avoid the cheaper ones because they're that price for a reason. However, depending on your location a cheapy might be the one for your needs. For me, I need a nuclear strength GH because there's nothing between me and the north pole other than sea and open air and I'm 300 feet up!. You might like to have a look at this one - it's one I'm considering.

depends on your temps. being in cali, you might have the most flexibility. you want to have some kind of cooling ventilation in summer to avoid heat build-up and insulating in winter. also, strength is an important factor because strong winds are bad. here in az, its about keeping it as cool as possible. Right now im in the design stages of my greenhouse. im thinking of solexx material to allow the most light but attached to my house so that its the same temp.

I agree, it depends on where you live! I live in Idaho, and the more insulative the better...what I would like is a 3 or 4 wall polycarbonate greenhouse, but if your winters don't get that cold or summers to hot, you may be fine with a twin wall polycarbonate greenhouse. Just remember, the more insualtive, the more it will cost upfront, but the less your heating and cooling bills will be. I've looked at the Sunglo's, several members here use them, and I know one of our local orchid society members who uses it and they have had good results with them. It also depends if your looking for a kit type greenhouse that you put up, or a fancy expensive one that you pay someone else to build for you.

Pull some pics ( Google "orchid house") and print them. Open the yellow pages and look under "ornamental iron".
Go talk to a couple of those guys. Like all things orchid, or Koi or parrot, the crap you see advertised is just that. Over priced garbage.

I have to agree with the over priced statement, most of the kit style greenhouses are over priced. I almost took the plunge and bought a Sunglo this spring, but I had a chance to see a new one set up at Costco before buying it and decided for the amount of money, the materials used didn't seem that great of quality, but yet people seem to really enjoy them so I figured I was just being picky!
