I love it! What a great plant you've got. I agree with those above - repot it into something that you know and are comfortable with. That's the best way, as you can then focus on the requirements of the plant to keep it happy and healthy, rather than worrying about the requirements of a different medium.

It's a "phalaenopsis mericlone."

This refers to the way in which the plant was created. instead of seed propagation, this one was made via meristem cloning. Not all orchids can be meristem cloned. The meristem is a mass of cells down in the base of a plant that are able to split and replicate themselves in the lab. In this way, the cells from one plant can be used to make 10s of thousands of genetically identical, cloned offspring.

Thanks Dave for tht clarification on that mericlone...
Rachel, I also suggest using what you are comfortable with and know what works for you and your methods!
I also have some new Phals...some species also that came in different media than I am used to. I am still debating when to transfer them to their new home. I am leaning on mounting them on Virgin Cork with New Zealand Moss.
Dennis has his species mounted with those materials and by the looks of his results persuaded me to go that way. Just some extra tips/opinions!!!!
She is a nice plant(s),by the way Rachel!!!!
I am excited for you! I know how it was when I received my schilleriana.....well two really, one was a gift/bonus!!!
They look amazing and add great dimension to the collection

That's so pretty! Am I looking at the pic wrong or is there more than one in that pot? Just curious!

It definitely looks like I have three in one pot, but I won't be too sure until I repot them. I'll be doing that tomorrow morning. I am still very new to orchids, so I'm hoping that these new ones will be happy where the other ones are. I have two at the moment and they are very happy in my window sill. This/these orchids are so very lovely that I would hate to kill them!!! I haven't killed an orchid yet (knock on wood!), but I have a nasty feeling that I will one day. :-/

Thanks for all the info!!!

Rachel

BTW,.... Sara, do you suggest separating them or should I repot them all together?? I really have no idea about what to do when I get more than one! This is the first time that's ever happened!!!!

You can repot them separately or together. Some members suggest keeping them together because they make better displays.

When you repot, examine the bases of each plantlet. If plantlets (keikis) arise from one main growth, do not separate - treat the whole thing as one plant ... eventually, you'll have a specimen.
