I have a phaiocalanthe Red streak Hybrid..I bought it about 2 months back..The leaves of this plant are partially black now & no significant new growth..What should I do to revive this guy??.....I have posted both the pics when it was bought and now with the blackenend leaves..In summer I kept it in the patio which recieves west sun..but the plant recieved partial sunlight..Now when the weather got a bit colder I shifted it inside..Don't know what went wrong??
Thank u in advance..
I forgot to mention that it had some white small mealy bugs under the leaf...luks like there may be one or two at the bottom of the plant now ...the leaf doesn't have any...The roots don't luk healthy..I have uploaded the pics of the roots as well..
You might be able to rescue this plant but with the mealy bug infestation and no roots , it will be a long tedious process. My suggestion is to toss it, learn from this experience and start with a clean, healthy new plant.
When you pot it back up I would use a media thats a bit finer and a smaller pot. The large bark may dry out a bit too fast and orchids typically like to be a bit pot bound. Just a suggestion.
Ok..Now I feel so good that this guy can be revived by the S/H method...I am thinking of using the clay pellets required for the S/H method..As for the soaking medium I just wanted to know which rooting harmone should I buy..Superthrive,Dyna gro or is there anything else suitable??
