I got this little orchid in July. It is sitting on the windowsill above the kitchen sink with plenty of light but no sun. It hasn't put on any new growth and is looking withered. What kind of medium should I use for repotting?

Well, I'm a newbie to the variety you have, however I have never bought one until I built a terrarium because they do require very high consistent humidity (about 70 to 80 percent or so).

While I can't personally tell you how much sun this particular one needs, I can tell you that your medium should be respective of your environment. If you have low humidity, you will want to use something that will help retain water and add humidity. If you have a very humid environment, you will want the opposite.

I think we may need a bit more detail on what your current conditions are. It would also really help if you could tell everyone what the roots look like and potentially post pictures.

Hopefully someone with more experience can chime in on this.

BTW, Welcome to the OrchidBoard!!!!

What kind of light does it get? It's in a pot? Mine is mounted. A picture would help!

Thanks for your replies. I ended up taking back to the lady that sold it to me. We repotted it in new small orchid bark and a smaller pot and drenched it in Super Thrive. We will see what happens. It should get plenty of humidity since it sits on the window sill just above the kitchen sink.
