Default Sedirea japonica winter dormancy...

This is a new orchid to me and will be my first winter with it. Can anyone tell me how they care for this plant during it's winter dormancy, or give me thoughts and ideas of how to proceed?

I have one too since less than a year and about to make our first winter together According to my research, it can be grown intermediate all year, but it will die after 4 or 5 years (I've read). I heard it can go down to 0°C, but it would prefer to be around 5~10°C in the winter. If you keep it at those temperatures, it needs to go bone dry between waterings (tip from a long time grower). Here are some references :

New World Orchids
Japanese Orchids

Sedirea japonica comes from Southern Japan just like Neofinetia falcata, so you can look at the climate report from this culture sheet to have a better idea : Neofinetia falcata culture sheet

Mine stays out year round..... temps from 34-105. bi-daily misting works for me, let dry by night. If you keep it in your house, I don't thing you'll have to do any thing special. Just reduce watering no fertilizer.

Well, I've had mine since 4/06 and it hasn't died yet. In fact it's got another spike on the way right now. I never put it outside and it stays under lights all year in my intermediate to warm house.

FWIW, the CCM was last April and the 1st pix with the 3 spikes was shortly after the judging. The last 2 pix were taken today and it's in an 8" pot with approximately 5 basal keikis steadily growing and STILL alive !!!

Oh yeh, this will be the 4th time blooming this year !!!!

My research also indicates that it will survive in culture for about 5 to 6 years unless it is allowed a winter dormancy period which I assumed and read includes a reduction of water and fertilizer. Of course, with temperature extremes that it seems to prefer I figured the pot should be dry by nightfall to eliminate any possible negative effects.

Keep the thoughts coming people!

I'll have to look at those two websites! Thanks for those.
