Can phals rebloom from old spikes? Female
Default Can phals rebloom from old spikes?

I bought a noid phal over the summer, and it has long since finished blooming. The spikes are still green, and show no sign of drying out. Is there any point to keeping them--is there a chance of getting more flowers or a keiki out of them? Or if anything were to grow out of them I'd have noticed in the last 2 months since the last flowers dropped?

Many can, and will bloom again, and/or develop keikis. Not sure if there is a particular time frame for that.

I only ever cut off spikes if they have turned completely brown and dried up. If they are green, they stay.

I have had one phal put off new spikes from the existing (smaller than the original) and rebloom plus another produced a keiki on its green spike.

Hope this helps.

Sometimes they'll stay green and dormant for months (I had one that took a year, slowpoke!) before showing signs of side spike or keiki activity. If your Noid has any sequential bloomers in its parentage then there's a chance for the tip of the spike to wake up and start producing more buds.

I've also had some spikes stay green for months and months, only to eventually dry up without having done anything more.
