Default What would you do?

I am hoping to get some responces to my question. This is what happened somehow I got water in the crown of my phal almost a week ago (atleast I think it was water as there was a pool of something in the crown). I did the listerine (had no peroxide) and cinnamon after cutting the uppermost leaf off, hoping to stop the spread. Anyway it has a spike with flowers on it. They all are falling off each day now, but not the leaves . It still has good roots, now my question is should I cut the spike or leave it hoping that maybe it gives me a keiki? With no flowers on spike it won't use up energy will it? Also after a week have I stopped the spread of rot? I have only managed to save 1 phal with crown rot so far. Thanks for the help

Pictures would be nice. If its a crown rot then I beleive you. You have to carve out the soft watery part and if you have reached the hard living section then start the cinammon dab.
Do not bother with the spike and flowers. Let it be. The energy the plant have given it is done . The plant will no longer provide moisture for it. It will concentrate on repairing the injured part.

mattryan - If the spike is still green cut it off. If the mother plant is going to die you are more likely to get a basal keikei than one on the spike. If you feel that you have all the damaged tissue out of the grown, their is nothing more to do but care for the plant as you normally would and hope for the best.

I think you have to make the decision to keep the flowers and hope that you have some left or save the plant to get flowers from it in the future. The mother or the children...
