I too ordered an Dracula lotax (among others!). I was very impressed with the way they packaged the plants when they came to our show in February, when the weather was brutal. I have always e- mailed them with any questions I had, and always got a response. I did not unwrap the plants last time, but seen that it's October, and above freezing, this time I will.
Thank you Ezil. It is nice to read good feedback about them. It is going to be my very first Dracula and I will attempt to grow it in my home without greenhouse. I liked many others dracs and masdies but had to restrict myself to just one of each just to see if they will like me.
If yes, I'll be getting many more .
Do you have experience with draculas? Do you grow them in the greenhouse?
Most of the time their plants are fairly good. A few times I got a few small plants bundled together as a large plant. It's good that you are picking the plants up at the show, don't hesitate to unwrap the plants in front of the rep to examine plants before you accept them! If you don't like the plant size or condition, don't take it.
This is excellent advice. When I picked up my plants last year, the representative, a very nice lady, opened all of them for me. If she hadn't, I think I might not have thought to do this or would have been somewhat intimidated to do it because I'd be afraid to refuse a plant after they brought it all that way... but now no problem.
I've had good responses from them too when I have e-mailed them. My two masdies were likely bloom size. Many leaves but having never had one before its a bit hard to say. The one made 4 attempts to bloom this summer so it likely is bloom size. For various reasons (including the cat) I never did get to see a flower, but that's not Ecuagenera's fault
Orchideya: I don't have a green house, but grow my minis in terrariums. That allows me to keep the humidity high and, with the help of small computer fans, plenty of ventilation. To my surprise the lepanthes telipogoniflora and calodyction I bought from Ecuagenera at our show have tripled in size and bloomed this year, and seem to love this environment. A big plus is that a terrarium does not have to be big and can be very attractive.
