Where to find this mini orchid-Odontonia Samouria??
I ran across (on line) a beautiful little mini orchid, and of course, I didn't keep track of where, and now I can't find it anywhere. It's an oncidium sort of, called Odontonia Samouria, and it looks somwhat like sherry baby. I have looked at Andy's orchids, Orchid Web, etc, and no one has it. I want to get into mini's;I love how petite they are. Another question: Is it me or is there not so much info or discussions on mini's ?
There's a lot of info on minis in the 'miniatures show and tell'. But if you're looking for info on this specific orchid try using the search bar up top to pull up old threads.
Sorry I can't help you out to track one down. What about ebay? Good luck in your search.

try easyorchids.co.uk
i saw a blooming sized plant at 7 english pounds and some change...of course you have to pay double this price for shipping and mailing costs...I usually buy more than four orchids to make shipping costs worth its while...
Oh...I found Odontonia samurai...I cant find for the life of me Odontonia samouria in any search even the Royal Horticultural Society doesnt have a listing of "samouria"

They must have changed their rules, Easyorchids does not ship outside of Europe last I looked. I think I only know one EU grower who actually does it. How much did you have to pay for Phyto/CITES/ import papers? Seems like it would cost a lot for just a few plants.

I didnt pay anything for papers. The grower is reputable in NY so all it needed is a sticker that was put on the box to show that they are approved by the USA to send plants to me.
A Canadian grower also has the permit sticker and a couple of Thai growers who must send all plants bareroot.
I think when they apply for the permit sticker, a US consul visit their GH and inspect that all criteria for import/export is met.
the minimum postal is £23.00 for USA and Canada with tracking...(I checked my receipt)
yes tell me all about the unfairness! thats what I said about Canadian system...because I can get and buy from a Canadian grower and reputable USA growers cant send to Canada...oh well international laws must be revised...some of them are still in the dark ages...
