Does Grammatophyllum need a pot? Male
Question Does Grammatophyllum need a pot?

I'm sorry, this is a cross thread but I'm not getting any answers in the cymbidium alliance.
I have a Grammatophyllum Rumphianum on it's way. I have read a few articles about Grammatophyllum not needing pots after a certain size, usually 12 inches. However, I have seen pictures of people here growing much smaller ones not in pots. I can mist/water it every day, I have a humidifier I can keep it next to, and I can keep it in a well ventilated basket. Does anyone have any thoughts or opinions?

you better do the basket since those orchids can grow large and pbulbs can multiply fast
These plants are usually rare in cultivation due to their spacial requirements. Plants require direct sunlight and intermediate to warm temperatures. Keep in temperatures of 75° to 85°F in the day and 55°-6O°F in the night. Plants can tolerate temperatures up to 100°F and as low as 45°F. Plants need to be heavily fertilized during growing season. Keep area well ventilated. Water frequently in spring to early fall during growth period, but do not keep wet and damp. In the winter reduce watering and water when roots turn white is dry.
This is an equatorial plant...btw: you didnt show your grow zone or your location in the USA...it would help us to acurately help you grow your orchids.

Thanks for your help bud. I live in Minnesota, near St Paul. I am growing my orchid indoors. I have plenty of space and grow all my orchids indoors. I was thinking about getting a basket with some hydroton.
