After bying a fishbowl, ordering mounts and S/H, I was still undecided as to the growing method of my A.didieri. I dismissed the fishbowl, thinking the cats may want to drink from it, even though they have a fountain. I then decided to use which ever got here first. The mounts came today. I mounted my Hwra. Lava Burst first, it went better than I expected, then the A.didieri. So far so good. Now I worry that I pulled the wire to tightly. The developement of the flower has been arrested, which worries me too. That little plant is starting to give me a headache. All I can do now, is wait and see.

I basically mount everything I own and most orchids can take being mounted tight. If the line is cutting into the orchid then it is probably to tight. Orchids will also grow slightly around the line, giving the line a dented in look, without any trouble. I would love to see pictures!

I don't have a digi cam and even if I did, I'm as computer challenged as I'm orchid challenged. When my daughter visits again, she can take and post some pics for me, if my new mounts are still alive. Now I don't know how often to water. I placed some sphag on the mount and put the roots on top of that, covered with sphag and tied. When the top of the sphag is dry, it is still moist under the roots? Should I poke a skewer in there to check? Btw. all this new found knowledge came from the OB - thank you all!

Well I know everyone's growing conditions our different but I water (right under my kitchen sink for a minute or 2) every day. That is one of the nice things about mounts, you can't really over water. Your roots will adjust and grow new roots in the moss and above the moss.

Phew! Thanks Wjs2nd! My new mounts are hanging above the kitchen sink. How convenient is that?
