Would the keiki look similar to what I'd see on a phal?
I've never seen a keiki on a dendrobium.
Either way, this is great!!
Dendrobium keikis, when they first start growing, look just like a spike. Sometimes they're a little fatter and sometimes not. The dead give-a-way for keikis is eventual root growth. Keikis can pop out in the central area where the leaves attach or at a leaf/node junction farther down the cane. Older shriveled canes can also produce keikis or spikes. Save a dendrobium cane if you ever accidentally break one. It will generally grow a keiki if you toss it to the side in a semi-shady area and forget about it for a few months.
Thanks!
I just looked at it again and it seems it's coming out with a point. I've oriented it so that it face the sun, as does the other spike that's coming. I'll be keeping my eye on this. So excited!!
