Oh! Sorry I didn't get that from the start. But genetically they can have totally different appearance, no?

Probably not different in terms of nuclear DNA characteristics. Especially not unless you see many, many seedlings. However, characteristics controlled by mitochondrial DNA (vigor) and chloroplast DNA (foliage variegation) can be very different or not very different depending on the parents used.

As long as this is a technical discussion, please remember that the genus, whether spelled out or abbreviated, is always capitalized.

Yes, but if the cross has been re-made the other way around it is still Rotshildiana. The RHS only lists it the way it was originally registered but the hybrid name is valid for both.

Thank you Rosie. I think I am finally getting there.
If you have AXB and want to see if this cross was registered under some name, you need to search for AXB and BXA, because it could be register either way.
So position of the name in the cross label doesn't really make any difference.
Up until this discussion I thought AXB is different from BXA and wanted to find out who is holding the pod first or second.
Thank you everyone. I am learning something new every day.

Yes, you have to search both ways to be sure of finding it.
